Lincoln City Foundation’s walking football teams have received support from the Lincoln branch of the Unite the Union Retired Members Group.
The group have provided sponsorship of both the men’s and women’s walking football playing kit, which is used when the teams represent the Imps at various friendly and league walking football fixtures.
The branded kit was unveiled outside the new Unite the Union office in Lincoln, which has recently opened on Tentercroft Street, close to the LNER Stadium.
Alice Carter, Head of Healthier Communities at the Foundation, said “We are very thankful of Unite the Union for sponsoring our walking football teams.
"The membership of both our men’s and women’s walking football teams is increasing, as are the opportunities to play in formal match opportunities, and the chance to wear the kit and represent the Imps is a fantastic reward for our players. The support is greatly appreciated by all involved in walking football at the Foundation.”
Gary Hewson, Secretary of the Lincoln Unite the Union Retired Members group, added: “Our members had the pleasure of meeting Alice Carter at one of our recent monthly meetings. We were amazed to find out from the presentation Alice gave about all the fantastic work Alice and her colleagues at the Lincoln City Foundation do in the community.
"We thought it appropriate that we helped with the sponsorship of the two walking teams which fits in well with Unite's objectives of getting involved in the community”
