Lincoln City Foundation are once again asking you to walk park to park to support mental health in Lincolnshire. Last year walkers across Lincolnshire raised £4000 to help establish Team Talk, a programme designed to support Lincolnshire men with their mental health.
The funds raised helped Lincoln City Foundation to set up peer to peer support sessions and an after-work kick about session so that men can turn up and find their release in football.
So far Lincoln City Foundation have helped 119 men and counting...
This year the Foundation want to build on that success to raise further funds to keep Team Talk sessions going and to develop the offer across Lincolnshire to reach more people across the county.
This Year 'A walk in the Park' is a blended event, so you can join Lincoln City Foundation on their event day at Hartsholme Park in Lincoln on the 15th March and walk our route, or you can walk park to park in your own area any time in May.
The event takes place on Sunday 15th May and will start and finish at Hartsholme Park in Lincoln. Walkers will have the option to walk a 5k or 10-mile route depending on their ability.
All walkers will receive our event medal at the end of their walk and have the opportunity to enjoy some family-friendly fun post-walk!
Elizabeth Welch, Head of Engagement at Lincoln City Foundation says,
“This is a family-friendly event, with lots for children to do on the 5k walk to keep them entertained and engaged, whereas the 10-mile walk will satisfy those wanting to set more of a challenge.
We are excited to be able to continue with the virtual option too. Last year we were forced to go virtual due to the pandemic but this year we welcome it with open arms, as it helps to make our event truly inclusive for all”
Alice Carter, Head of Healthier Communities at Lincoln City Foundation says,
“Last years event was such a success because most people know someone that has struggled with their mental health at some point, and people were inspired to get up and do something impactful for our area.
This year we have been lucky enough to be able to expand our mental health provision with the launch of our partnership with Unmasked Mental Health, who will be delivering sessions every Thursday at the LNER Stadium for anyone ages 16+ of any gender. We are really hoping people will get behind us again to help support this session and further expansions across the Lincolnshire area. Together we can make a real impact in Lincolnshire”
People are encouraged to sign up now and kick start their fundraising. There are little prizes based on how much you can raise, so there has never been a better reason to take A Walk in The Park this May.
Sign up now at www.lincolncityfoundation.com/awalkinthepark it will be a walk in the park.
