Street party at Sincil Bank

Updated: Jul 4, 2023

Residents from the Sincil Bank area of Lincoln came together on Monday, 8th May, to celebrate King Charles’ coronation with a street party held next to the LNER Stadium.

The event was organised by resident volunteers from the local area, with support from the Lincoln City Foundation and the City of Lincoln Council’s Neighbourhood Team.

The event featured face painting, balloon modelling, graffiti art, coronation-themed crafts, traditional games and races alongside a cultural area celebrating the diversity of the local community.

Kate O’Reilly, community manager at the Foundation, said:

“It was a wonderful occasion to mark the coronation of our new king and see so many smiling, happy faces coming together from the Sincil Bank community.
“Thank you, especially to all the local volunteers who worked hard to make this event happen and have shown a real commitment to bringing together their community.”

Alice Carter, head of healthier communities at the Foundation, added:

“Our community team have been working in the Sincil Bank area of Lincoln since 2013 and continue to support local people through conversations, relationship building, and supporting resident-led projects and events.
“Across the rest of the year, a number of other community events are being planned for the neighbourhood – so watch this space.”
