Sorensen takes part in Team Talk event

Lasse Sorensen recently took part in Lincoln City Foundation’s Team Talk project in Metheringham.

The Danish midfielder visited North Kesteven District Council’s waste and recycling depot earlier this month to help the Foundation raise awareness of strategies to improve mental health and wellbeing through their Team Talk project.

Team Talk uses the power of peer-to-peer support, alongside participation in sport and physical activity to reach males who may be struggling with their mental health or who are recovering from mental health challenges.

The Foundation also seeks to advocate and raise awareness of prioritising mental wellbeing across local communities.

Sorensen participated in a question and answer session, giving an insight into the strategies he uses to maintain his wellbeing as a professional footballer.

Alice Carter, head of healthier communities at the Foundation, said:

“It was powerful for the team at the Metheringham depot to hear from Lasse, who shared his experiences openly and supportively with the group.
“Talking about mental health can often face stigma, and through sessions like this and our wider Team Talk project, the Foundation hopes to contribute toward challenging this assumption within communities."

A peer-to-peer support session facilitated by Andy’s Man Club takes place every Monday evening at the LNER Stadium between 7-9 pm.

Andy’s Man Club is a registered charity that provides a free place for men to speak about their issues and open up about their mental health problems in a safe, supportive environment.

Alongside the Monday evening session, Team Talk offers physical activity sessions for males to help them get active and keep engaged.

Team Talk Football sessions are held every Wednesday 7 pm-8 pm and every Thursday 1 pm-2 pm on the 3G Astroturf at the LNER Stadium.
