Premier League Primary Stars: 2024 round-up

It has been an incredible twelve months of Premier League Primary Stars delivery at Lincoln City Foundation.

The programme has enriched schools with football-themed lessons and bespoke interventions, combining Premier League resources with the Foundation's expertise to create engaging and active learning experiences.

This initiative has fostered a positive, inclusive learning environment, delivering lasting benefits for students and teachers alike.

An impressive 93% of participants reported enjoyment, while 95% felt welcomed in the sessions, a testament to the power of Premier League values in inspiring young minds.

PE support that makes a difference

Eighteen teachers across our primary partner schools have benefited from dedicated PE support, helping them enhance their delivery and confidence in physical education.

With 100% of teachers stating improved confidence, the programme ensures children now receive better, more engaging PE lessons. This growth exemplifies the programme's commitment to raising the standard of physical education across schools.

Empowering youth voice

2024 placed a strong emphasis on youth social action, resulting in two exceptional projects:

· Waddington Redwood Primary: Year 5 pupils were trained as playground leaders, leading to improved lunchtime behaviour and fewer incidents, while also nurturing leadership skills.

· St Hughs Primary: Pupils pitched sustainability ideas in a Dragons' Den-style event, with winning concepts such as enhanced recycling and more greenery now being implemented. These initiatives empowered children to take ownership of their environment and make meaningful contributions.

Success in the Reading Stars

Our Reading Stars programme thrived this year, with over three hundred pupils taking part in our carefully designed, Lincoln City themed interventions.

· A memorable highlight was first team player Lewis Montsma’s visit to a Reading Stars lesson, where he provided personalised support and encouragement, inspiring pupils to delve deeper into reading.

· We also welcomed popular author Tom Palmer to our new Co-op Community Hub. Over 120 children participated in an exciting day of learning, discovering how characters and stories are created, leaving them motivated and engaged.

Positive outcomes across the board

The Premier League Primary Stars program has been a resounding success in 2024:

· Students have reported high levels of satisfaction, with bespoke and tailored lessons promoting engagement and creativity.

· Teachers highlighted the programme’s role in boosting their confidence in delivering high-quality physical education, demonstrating the programme’s far-reaching benefits.

Celebrating girls’ football

On Friday 29 November, we hosted our largest-ever girls-only football competition, welcoming 13 schools. Congratulations to St Johns Academy, who won a thrilling final against Ling Moor Primary.

St Johns Academy will proudly represent the Foundation in the East Midlands Regional Competition, showcasing the progress and passion of girls’ football.
