Fighting Fit nominated for local award

Lincoln City Foundation’s Fighting Fit programme has been confirmed as a finalist in the Impact on Health Award category for the Lincolnshire Sport and Physical Activity Awards 2023.

Winners will be announced at the celebration evening on Thursday 9 November, with Fighting Fit nominated alongside two other Lincolnshire programmes vying for the award. Fighting Fit is a popular programme run by the Foundation which aims to support people living with cancer in Lincolnshire. The scheme has grown in recent months, with groups in Lincoln, Mablethorpe, Gainsborough, Grantham, Boston, and most recently, Bourne.

The successful expansion of the programme has been achieved through working with programme partners Everyone Active Gainsborough, Leisure SK, and Boston United Community Foundation, with ongoing support from the Macmillan Living with Cancer Programme Team. Head of healthier communities Alice Carter said: “We are delighted that Fighting Fit has been announced as a finalist at this year’s Sport and Physical Activity Awards.

"The positive impact the Fighting Fit programme has on the quality of life of those living with cancer across Lincolnshire is something we are extremely proud of, and this is fantastic recognition for all those involved in the delivery of the programme, alongside our Fighting Fit members who create such as inspiring and supportive community.”
