DS Active play in Bradford tournament

Lincoln City Foundation's DS Active Team made a trip to Bradford on Sunday 24 September to play in Bradford Disability FC’s annual tournament.

The tournament is run on a huge scale, with different grades for a range of abilities.

The Lincoln City DS Active team were promoted into a higher league in 2022, and this year there were 7 other teams in the league.

The team found this higher league hard last year, but considering they had not played a competitive match in 12 months, they did themselves proud.

The squad consisted of Mila, Tom N., Tom W., James, Danielle, Orla, Matt, Ruth, Darryl, William, and Josh. This meant head coach Alan could make regular substitutions during the matches.

In their first game against Greeland C the team showed great courage and determination to ultimately draw 0-0.

Game two against Bradford DFC 4 was a great game that unfortunately ended with Bradford winning 2-0.

Game three against against Harrogate Town B was an evenly matched game, but ended 1-0 to Harrogate.

Game four against Bridlington BTDFC 2 was another close game but ended 1-0 to Bradford.

Game five was against Lincoln Expected Toulouse. Despite a fantastic performance from the Lincoln City DS Active 'keeper, the team lost 4-0.

Game six was against another really strong team in Leek CSOB ACFC C. The match ended with Lincoln losing 4-0 despite their best efforts.

Game seven was against Skelmersdale Male Aces B. Skems were a physically huge team compare to Lincoln but game play was more evenly matched again. The game ended 1-0 to Skems.

Everyone played brilliantly considering they hadn’t played a competitive game in 12 months and had only recently returned to training from their summer break.

Orla was named as player of the tournament for her tenacity throughout the day.

A big thank you to Alan, the head coach of DS Active, and all the parents/carers who came along to make the day possible.
