BBC Radio Lincolnshire Make a Difference Awards 2024 nominations

Lincoln City Foundation’s Fighting Fit programme and our community manager Kate O’Reilly have been nominated for the BBC Radio Lincolnshire Make a Difference Awards 2024.

The awards recognise both group projects and individuals who have made a significant contribution to improving the life of people within the local community.

The Foundation’s Fighting Fit programme has risen in profile in the past year, with sessions now taking place at five different locations across Lincolnshire.

Fighting Fit aims to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of individuals living with cancer by keeping them active through exercise and forming a safe space where participants can talk freely with each other.

Alice Carter, head of healthier communities at the Foundation, said: “We are delighted that Fighting Fit has been nominated for this award and it is fantastic acknowledgement of the positive impact the programme is having on those living with cancer across Lincolnshire.

“Recognition such as this also helps raise further awareness of the benefits of being physically active for those living with cancer and how it can help improve quality of life and overall well being.

Community manager Kate O’Reilly has also been nominated for the great impact she has within Sincil Bank.

Kate recently staged a Sincil Bank Heroes event in the Branston Legends Lounge at the LNER Stadium to reward local volunteers, while she also helped organise the Festival of Light in November and does work behind-the-scenes day in and day out to support the Sincil Bank community.

Kate said: “It is an honour working alongside so many wonderful people and I am incredibly grateful and humbled by the nomination.
